Held at Yummy Jobs HQ in Epping, this second stage took place in late September time. I was placed in the morning session of the first day that week, so needed to arrive at 9am. After a little drama which involved ripping my tights in Costa and running around madly looking for replacements, at 9:15 we all got let in. We had a presentation from the team where they talked through a powerpoint, showed some videos, and told us what was involved with each role type which got us all far too excited (as if we weren't already).

When we arrived, we’d all been given stickers with our team name on it (Team Goofy!) and I was in the first group for interviews directly after the presentation. There were about 6 or 7 of us in the group, and we got taken off to a side room with Luke, one of the Yummy Jobs team members. The interview itself took around 30 minutes I believe, but it honestly flew by. We all had to take a starburst with the colour corresponding to an opening question, and I had to give an interesting fact about myself before the real interview got going.

Questions included things like:

  • Why do you want to do the program?

  • How will it help your future job prospects?

  • How would you cope spending summer away from home?

  • How would you handle Florida's heat?

  • If a family really wants to go on Tower of Terror but it’s broken down, what would you say?

  • If a family really wants a certain item of merchandise but it is out of stock what would you do?

  • Which Disney character would you be and why?

There were a few other questions but it all went in a bit of a blur! My group was really lovely and nobody tried to interrupt each other so we all got a fair chance to speak and give our answers. I was generally quite happy with what I’d said, but honestly my cheeks ached from smiling so much!

The most important thing here, I think, is to seem approachable, friendly and talkative, but also emphasise the need to ‘keep up the magic’ in your situation-related answers. For example, I said that I’d tell the Tower of Terror guests that the ghosts were having a party and we would try and get it under control as soon as possible!

There was then a long wait of almost 3 weeks (we were told 2 weeks maximum!) before we got the emails through, and I was so excited to find out I had a final interview with Disney HQ in London the following month!
